Dr Spencer Pitfield
Director / Rock Winds
Dr Spencer Pitfield, clarinet, began his musical career playing in professional orchestras. He then worked for ten years at the world famous Purcell School of Music in Hertfordshire. Spencer, who holds a PhD in British Clarinet and Piano music from Sheffield University, performs regularly with his trio Zemlinsky.
Director / Guitar & Bass
Greg Bish, guitar, graduated from Sheffield University in 2003. He is a member of the European Guitar Teachers Association, an accredited Rockschool teacher and an associate of the Higher Education Academy. He has performed on stage with members of Status Quo and Deep Purple and now performs with his band 'The Greg Bish Blueprint'.
Guitar & Bass
Jonathan Kirwan, guitar and double bass, graduated from Sheffield University in 2009. He has a wide range of experience in various musical genres. He is happy teaching guitar from classical to rock and pop and also teaches the double bass.
Peter Taylor, voice, achieved his Post-Graduate Diploma in singing at the Birmingham Conservatoire. Peter is developing a specialism in teaching through an understanding of vocal physiology. He is happy to teach in all genres of music, from Opera to Musical Theatre, and from Pop to heavy rock styles.
Johnny Hunter, drums, works full time as a freelance performer and drum teacher. He has experience in performing and teaching a wide range of styles and is equally at home in the jazz and rock genres.
John Hackett, flute, has performed with a variety of ensembles including the English Flute Quartet, Purcell Room, and guitarist Steve Hackett, Barbican and Queen Elizabeth Hall. In the year 2000 his CD ‘Sketches from Satie’ was chosen by Classic FM as the album of the month. As a composer John has worked for BBC radio and his 2005 album ‘Checking Out of London’ was awarded five stars by the Record Collector magazine.
