The school runs between 4:00pm and 6:00pm on Friday evenings during term time at Birkdale Senior School, Oakholme Road, Broomhill.

The school is non-uniform.

Pupils do not need to be in a band to join The Sheffield School of Rock and Pop, they will be allocated to an existing Rock and Pop school band based on their age and ability.

The Sheffield School of Rock and Pop will be open again on Friday 12th January 2018.

Our term dates for the Summer Term 2018 are as follows:

May 2018

June 2018

July 2018

Weekly Schedule

Each week has a specific theme and focus - during the Easter term we will be focused on 'harmonies and style' and original songwriting.

Each week pupils will usually begin by working with their group for forty-five minutes on a task/piece under supervision from the rockschool staff, who will give advice and guidance as to how the students can best perform together as a group and how to incorporate the theme into either the set task or their own compositions.

At the middle of the session all the rock school students will come together in the Octagon for a 'masterclass' session. Students may also have the opportunity to perform what they have been working on to the rest of the school in a friendly and understanding environment.

For the final part of the session students will reconvene with their bands for a final rehearsal of the day.

Over the Christmas Term students record a 'demo CD' of an original composition that they have written throughout the term and at the end of the term they will give an informal concert (to which friends and family are invited) to demonstrate some of the techniques that they have been working on over the past few weeks.

Courses are charged on a termly basis and the weekly cost for a two hour afternoon session is just £12.50.

If your son or daughter is interested in joining The Sheffield School of Rock and Pop they would be welcome to attend their first session free of charge to see if they would like to join.
